Bill Fischer has been a friend of mine and my husband Kevin for many years. Bill was working in the media and I was the General Manager of the Sydney Kings back in the 90’s so our paths crossed many times during a period of over two decades.
When Bill left Fox Sports he worked for the Sydney Kings as our Media Manager for a season so I had the opportunity to once again work closely with him. Bill reached out to me 6 months ago and said he would like to write a book on my career in basketball. I am interested in history and had commenced working with my youngest daughter on our family heritage, and many times I had talked about how good it would be to have narrative with the heritage background – not just names and dates which do not really tell the story.
Bill’s offer to write our history was very timely and both Kevin and I were very excited to begin. Coming from a large family of 7 siblings, 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, I wanted to be able to share what life was like when we were growing up. In particular the role that our mother played in our life and the amazing love between the family. Bill spent some time with Kevin and I as well as my sister Maureen who Bill also knew through our careers in sport. It was fun searching through the photos, checking our memory on times gone by and creating a finished book that we love and will be able to share with the full family.
Thank you Bill, it was a pleasure working with you, you had a great feel for finding the little gems in our life and recording them for the future family members to cherish and be able to pass on to their children.
I was worried about how I was going record all Marg's amazing life stories before it was too late - Marg has dementia and I needed to act now. I'd researched many companies over many years however most of them seemed to not care or to be in Melbourne or not even in Australia - I needed someone who could visit Marg in her home, respect who she is, be patient, and put all her stories together. Through word of mouth I was advised about Bill - he was the right fit. He is caring, compassionate, motivating and made Marg feel special. He is a brilliant story writer and anyone who says 'I don't know where to start' then don't worry, 'Bill does'!! There is no way I could have compiled all Marg's stories, like he has. Bill is one you don't want to let get away - he is worth every cent and more... Don't procrastinate - do it now! - Best decision I ever made. Thank you sooooo much Bill. Georgie Arcus.
I was so excited when Bill delivered the draft copy of my story. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough, to see what came next in the story, even though it was my story and I knew what came next.
Bill told my story in such a way that I found it a great joy to read. My children love it. They couldn’t wait to get their hands on a copy. I even gave a copy to my brother, who was responsible for the book's title. To see his reaction when he saw the front cover was priceless.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience with Bill. He made it so easy. I’m so glad I decided to have this done.
Thank you Bill.

Adele and I know how important it is to have something to handover to present and future generations for them to understand where their family came from. But, the question was, “How do we do it?”.
So, the subject was talked about for years with nothing of substance being produced. Then we heard that Bill Fischer, a journalist, was writing family history books. Knowing we would never get around to it and that we don’t have the journalist training to do a good job, we approached Bill and asked if he could write our family story for us, and then wondered what would happen next
The next week we found ourselves sitting with Bill at the kitchen table having a cup of tea and talking with him about our life experiences and memories of our past family generations. All the while his phone was quietly recording our conversation. Every now and then Bill would ask us a question to take us deeper into the subject or onto a new subject. After 3 hours of friendly conversation Bill gave us a project of getting as many family photos as possible together which he then made notes about who they were to include in the book. We did not realise how interesting the process was, and how easy Bill made it to be.
A week later he sent us a word copy of the story he'd written, using the phone recorded interview as the basis, for us to read and make comments on, which we emailed back to him. Then Bill visited us again and discussed the book and asked for more photos that he could include, especially about any person that he thought was missing.
Bill left saying that he will have the first book produced for us to look at and review before he produces the final copies.
All up the whole process took only just over a month and was easy and very interesting going through our own family memories. Seeing the book finished in such a professional way was a gift that we could never have accomplish on our own, without Bill. Now we have the family history to give to all our family which we know will be a treasure for our present and future generations to come.
Thank you Bill

It proved to be a very professional and enjoyable experience with Bill. With his help and assistance the book came out so much better than expected.
We are very pleased with the result and the family will have an understanding of the family history and their ancestors achievements and career.

My wife and I met Bill in unusual circumstances whilst camping in Currabubula SE of Tamworth. We shared experiences and as a result he offered to write some history of the Weller family and their association with Nabiac.
Bill made it a very pleasant journey, and as a result we were encouraged to search what records the larger family possess. Several unknown aspects were uncovered in this project to the delight of extended family members. This alone made the exercise worthwhile.
The process was non invasive and very well carried out by Bill who is a good listener with a disarming manner. We were very comfortable in his company. We are delighted with the result.
We fully recommend Bill in any similar project that may require his services.
